Bottom Bracket Bearing worn - Giant Anthem X3
My bottom bracket bearings are worn and need replacing. Can anyone advise what I should do. Repair or replace.
The current BB is Shimano Deore integrated outboard??
If replace, replace with what?
Thanks

The XT BB is quite good.
Would this one work?

you will have no problems with them
That would be the one.
Thanks for the advice Hawkeye!!
I press out the bearing in my external BBs.
Two bearings from ABC in brookvale cost me around $12 and 20minutes of work!
yep, i 2nd the pressing in of new bearings. cheaper option by far. eaasy to do as well.
I had trouble getting the corect brg's off ABC, they ended up supplying ones that were 1mm wider. Removing the old brg's was difficult as i couldn't get enough purchase on the brg to push it out without damaging the plastic seal/spacer ,ended up machining up a cup support and had to use a drift to Knock old ones out .Fitting the new ones was easy enough useing the support I had allready made and the press, but overall I t was a pain in the @rse and now I just buy new B/B's.
+1. Found it very easy to damage the combined one-piece plastic shield/crank sleeve, and abandoned the attempt to get it out.

good vid,the hope B/B looks more easily serviced than the shimano one I was working with.but you would still need to machine up(or purchase ) the cup support and mandrill to do the job as easily as old mate did it.I will make my next B/B a Hope item and when required have another shot at bearing replacement myself
tools cost $25 at crc
It is easy to damage the plastic sleeve if you are rough and dont take your time!
I have got bearings from ABC to suit Shamino and Race Face without a problem. I sugest that they just made a mistake.
If you dont know what you are doing and dont have a press then just buy new ones.
If you a switched on give it a go as it wont take long and will cost far less!
