Frenchs Forest East to Sydney Olympic Park and Return Easy Endurance
Corner of Rodborough and Warringah Roads, Frenchs Forest
With the crap weather forecast through into the weekend, I'm going to take my normal commute route that I haven't done for awhile and turn it into an out-and-back loop to Sydney Olympic Park. Total distance will be 55 km or so,plus wharever the Olympic 4X circuit is, conditions permitting (so fit your fat tyres!).
Apart from some stints on Warringah Road, Babbage/Boundary and the very short Victoria Road section, this is on roads with manageable traffic or suburban streets, and forms my midweek commute when working at SOP.
I tend to average 20 km/hr for this in peak hour traffic. Sunday morning traffic levels should be very reasonable.
Route is as follows:
- Warringah Road to Crown-of-the-Hill and up and over to Roseville Bridge SUP
- Down the Roseville Bridge Shared Use Path and then up to Babbage Rd and Boundary St
- Left off Boundary into Macquarie St Chatswood, down to cross Victoria St and up to Mowbray Road via Stanley St.
- Mowbray Road westbound, continuing across Pacific Highway to end.
- Across Epping Road, then north along Epping Road Cycleway to Pittwater Rd
- From Pittwater Road into Blenheim Road westbound, continuing along Badajoz Road and Cressy Road then right into Victoria Road for 250m.
- From Victoria Road, left into Charles St westbound all the way to Parramatta River.
- Turn right to follow cycleway to rail bridge.
- Over bridge and left off end of bike path to loop left from Blaxland under railway to Walker, Rider Boulevarde and then into SOP bike paths to SOP railway station.
- Stop briefly for a coffee and snack near SOP rail station before returning.
- Depending on time and riders legs, maybe instead of the Mowbray Road climb, follow Epping Road cycle path to end and come home via Spit Bridge, Seaforth and Wakehurst Parkway. Otherwise, return the way we came.

Although I wish you have chosen something more picturesque and safe - somewhere in the Northern Beaches..
May I suggest - if you don't get at least 2 more riders to hold proper 4X comp, I'll do the Ku-ring-gai loop instead.. =)
Sorry.. too early.. sleep derived for the last three weeks of TdF.. and a friend is coming over to ride in Northern Beaches..
Well, I'll be starting a little later... been watching Cadel take the yellow jersey off the Schlecks
Seeing there are no takers, I might switch the route to Akuna Bay as well.
