Send it back to them. Some of the guys over on BMU have had great results from sending it back to Garmin with a story as to how it broke.

Total commiserating , I'did exactly the same leaving chest strap and garmin 305 on the roof of wife's car just before she took off to the shops ,that was the last I saw of it !!
Just ordered G 500 to help me get over it Eye-wink

Did that a long time ago with an expensive pair of Oakleys after being pulled over for speeding ... never saw them again. Sad More recently with the second set of car keys, but pulled over immediately and found them Cool

Amazing that you found it afterwards...

riding turner hill the other week i put my gps on the roof of the car thinking i will forget that. sure enough i did! driving down the gravel road i heard a clunk on the roof then felt the gps land in my lap sitting in the back seat!!!!!!!!!! needless to say i was very thankful!

I have an edge 305 which is all busted up from falling off my bike so many times (on account of the crappy mount being broken).
The screen was cracked and there was ink bleed so it was pretty useless. I rang Garmin Australia and they said that if I sent it to them, they'd send me a replacement for $100.

After a lengthy night ride I put a battery pack from my Ayups and a set on gloves on the roof of my car and then promptly drove away.Realised the next day but they had vanished into the ether.
After a brain numbing crash out at "Black Stump" I completely destroyed my Edge 705 by introducing it at speed to a large and unfriendly rock.Smashed glass, inkspot lcd and would not power up by any means.I took mine back to the local dealer who had sold it to me and they replaced it with a brand new one for about $215.00.From what I have been told Garmin will replace damaged units with reconditioned units they have repaired and put back into circulation for a nominal fee.

Cheers,

Chris.

... that comes with 705s.

I took a half-tumble during the WSMTB 4-hour earlier this year where I stepped out of an OTB and left the bike behind (not enough air in the fork I found out later ... duh!)

Halfway around the lap I notice the Garmin has gone missing off the stem. Horror! Jawdropping! What am I going to tell the minister for finance erm, I mean the missus?

Was just finishing up telling the team-mates I was in deep doo-doo after recovering from the 40+ degree lap, and preparing to go out and look for it, when over the PA comes the announcement that a GPS has been found. I rock up to race control, and there it is in all it's taped-over glory. Whew! Sticking out tongue The family jewels will remain intact.

I now have an automotive O-ring cable-tied to the stem that stretches over the top of the GPS to hold it in place, courtesy of (I think) phil beresford. Hasn't looked like departing since.
