What tyres better in the wet?

Anticipating bottlebutt being wet, what would you run front and rear out of 2.0 race kings and 2.2 x-kings?
Or would you run a combination of both? 2.2 X-king up front and 2.0 race king out back.

These are the only tyres I have to choose from.

Generally, is a fatter or skinnier tyre better in the wet?

Soft as it sounds, so not keen to race in the mud.

Whats the soil like out there, clay or sand based? I will have a choice of Nobbly Nic's or Nevegals if it is wet...

If it's really muddy the skinnier tyres will cut through the mud to the hard rock/soil. Fat tyres tend to float over the top more which is good for sand but gives f all traction in mud and clay. IIRC Ants was going to use cyclocross tyres at the Husky for this same reason, I think they're about a 1.7

I'm running Kenda Karmas on my 29er. They are 1.9 wide and run as tubeless. I ran them for the Husky and they were great.

At the Husky skinny tyres would have had to cut down so deep to find anything solid that the mud would have been up around your waist!

if its sloppy mud, go skinny at the back at least. If its just wet, the wider is fine.
I think the time at BB will be made and lost on the last 30km, going up, which, given gravity, is more than likely to be dry.

I reckon run something fairly fast, with low rolling resistance which for you is the 2.0 Race-Kings. if its awful, you'll know at rego on friday so at worst case, swap the front tyre out, and drop 3 psi from the rear.
You'll be fine I reckon.
