I'd be looking in local vehicle parts bins for seals, or... electrical outlets as they are very similar to small drive belts one finds inside vacuum cleaners and the like.

Or just use multiple standard elastic bands?

they're just o-rings and so any bearing shop should be able to give you a replacement. try taking the broken one in so they can measure it for you. Consolidated Bearing Company http://www.conbear.com or Bearing Service Company http://www.bsc.com.au both have lots of outlets and should be able to help out Smiling

If you PM me your address, I'll stick some in the post for you. We have about 50million here. I'm using them for all sorts of things currently (wrapping around inner tubes for example).

heads up on the bearing shops.
i have just left the industry a year ago after 17 years. it is a right pain in the ass when someone comes in and wants 1 o-ring. you will get bent over on price too...(call it dickhead with 1 oring fee).
If you plan on going to your local bearing shop, let me know which one and i will give you a contact name to ask for, and maybe even ring on your behalf prior to going in.
take in a couple of dollars or a $5 note and grab a few, not just one. (maybe 6 - 10)
