Test your all round mountain biking skills and fitness, and your bike, at CCOMTB’s first ever AM race.

Venue: Ourimbah State Forest
Date: 6 November
Format: Gravity XC/Super D

This race will take in the best that Ourimbah has to offer, and will test your skills and fitness on a point to point track of around 4km length. The course is approximately 60% descending and 40% climbing/flat. You will get two timed runs, with your best run counting towards your overall result in your grade.

The course will encompass new and existing XC tracks, plus parts of the DH track, plus enough fire road sections to allow for passing. The jumps and gaps on the main DH track will NOT be part of the course, so you will be able to complete the entire course without resorting to getting airborne. As such, full face helmets will be OPTIONAL.

We will be running a shuttle service from 8.30 for anyone who doesn’t feel like riding up hill to the course start, which will be near the start of the DH track. The course will be open for practice until racing starts at 12. Categories will be Male and Female A, B, C and Under 15 for Juniors, the latter based on your age at 31 December 2011. You can self nominate for the adult categories, based on your experience and fitness.

Because we don’t have enough room for a mass start at the top of the hill, we will be doing an individual start at 15 second intervals, which will still provide for plenty of elbow to elbow action. You will race in number order within your category, starting with A Grade, and you will need to be at the start ready to race in your time slot. Unlike Club DH races, you won’t be given any leeway if you are not ready to start at your allotted time, your race time will be based on your allotted start time.

Entry is $30, plus $20 for a day licence if you don’t have a MTBA licence, registration will start at 7.30, and the course will be open for practice from that time until racing starts.

Since we've never run this race format before, we have no idea of how many people will turn up, so please put a post here if you are coming.

If anyone is going, fancy putting it in the calendar?

Now c'mon hobbit, that's hardly fair.
More like a DH race with a little UH...

Matt, is it possible to provide a yes or no closer to the day?

Sure.

BTW it's not my race. I'm just providing the link from Rotorburn.
That said, I'm very keen and happy to share my car with someone else.

My mistake, I thought it was like DH racing but for people who could pedal as well Smiling

You'll find that local DH guns Brad Smelly Kelly and Brock squarepants Newling will race the XC from time to time. (I think lap record is held by Brocky?)
Blow everybody off the track, eating lolly snakes, whilst wearing a wifebeater, shorts and a bucket lid...

Boys can pedal... Eye-wink
