EOI: Fling Training - This Sunday - Wingello

Wondering if people would be keen to do some Fling Training down at Wingello on Sunday.

I have plans to do 3 laps around Wingello of the Red Loop to get some decent training in, pace will be quickish as it is a training ride. Don't want to come across as a dick, but yeah I am heading down for some solid training before the Fling and the pace will reflect this to a certain extent.

8.30am start I am thinking...anyone keen?

Hey Logan

I may be keen for this, need to check what the family has planned for Sunday.

I am definitely no elite rider, but can hold a reasonable consistent pace. Given it's a loop we end back where we start after 1.5 hrs or so.

I am sure you will set a cracking pace up those fire trail hills.

ahhh - would love to join you, but will be busy packing to fly to Malaysia for the stage race there next week (did I mention that I am pretty excited?!)
Have a good time - and remember that high cadence through the single-track is what will save the legs for the climbs to finish. Dont over gear up those little ST pinches. It will finish your race early.....

Hey Ants, thanks for the tip Smiling

I was gonna PM you, but remembered you mentioning about the XC Race, good luck!

Cheers for that as well, keeping a high cadence wont be a problem, used to crit racing at 100rpm lol.

@ Dicko, feel free to join, yeah cause its a loop we will always end back at the start. I will be stopping after a lap to grab more bottles etc.

Yep - the Crit racing is ideal for cadence, but even so, you'll be averaging something like 90rpm on the way to the Forest, and then will drop to 75/80rpm really easily if you're not careful.

Re Malaysia - theres a big group of us going over (myself, Jenny, Vanina, Gav, Kyle, Naomi + a load of other aussies), and one of us is gonna keep a video diary - probably to be hosted on Enduropulse, so keep an eye out.

I think I'll be too tired and sore from Saturdays ride to make this. See how I go.

@antsonline - awesome adventure.

I was in Malaysia & Singapore a couple of weeks ago & really enjoyed the riding. The humidity is something else. I didn't feel the heat too badly but had to remind myself to drink heaps as the sweat was dripping. It's quite different riding through rainforest with little monkeys everywhere and they all seem to have babies clinging upside down to their bellies.

I was on alert for cobras as my brother comes across them a bit riding there but he reminded me the reticulated python is plentiful in those parts. Think 25ft long and able to eat a goat... Kept me moving fast. Didn't stop at all. Especially when he said they are an angry snake and have a bad reputation there.

Have been informed that Nippers starts this Sunday for my two kids. I am out for this one - and every Sunday morning for the rest of summer by the sounds of it Sad
