A couple of new illegal trails have been cut in off Hassans Walls over the school holidays have caught the ire of the NIMBYs

If you have been cutting the trail down into Strathlone or the one off Bracies lookout (not to mention fucking up the existing town house trail that comes down on High St, serious you've ruined the rock drops and made an errosion mess on the by pass) can you please ease up and especially stop cutting down trees and making a mess.

Apparently the police have been informed and complaints made to council. We're have a hard enough time getting the new DH trail approved with out this crap. and I really don't need to waist more of my time in meetings getting hammered by council and do gooders.

Think about it. There are a tonne of good trails about, how about putting your enthusiasm to maintaining some of the old trails or helping Skinny with the new DH.

But illegal trails help us get legal trails. http://www.rotorburn.com/forums/showthread.php?2...

@sammydog - you are surely saying that tongue in cheek?

It takes a lot to piss off Flynny, but I can hear the frustration in his post.

To be honest Rob if they were half decently thought out and built I would shrug it off.

Put 3 kids together during school holidays and they will build something. Building stuff is what humans do and there is not a person out there with access to the bush that didn't at one time build and unofficial jump, cubby house, fort, trail to their fav fishing hole... Kids aren't allowed to be kids anymore...

But

1)A really good line on an existing track has been stuffed completely with a stupid jump into a shocking mess after they already dumbed down the rock drops

2)Everyone in town knows certain people are on the war path on riding in the area and it is causing us greif

3)Skinny, Mal and Duke are working their butts off every afternoon to build a proper trail that's taken 4 years of negotiation and hard work to get approved (still got stumbling blocks). If people are that keen to dig, they can step up and help out while learning how to do it properly from some of the best volunteer trail builders in the country

4)Every time someone pisses near where an orchid might one day appear I'm the one who cops the earful (I didn't even know about the 2 new trails let alone seen or ridden them)

As you say Flynny its just going to happen but sadly the result is usually some crappy thing that is not worth much to anyone and causes severe problems.

Having the real opportunity to do some real work on a real trail can use this energy, if there is a proper trail project to work on.

I convinced a friend at Newcastle to join the Glenrock Trail Alliance and he loves working there and when you ride around with him his total pride in the place is just immense. The whole area has become his baby to keep an eye on, and thats just after a few weeks of shovelling dirt like a slave.

Council has just been in again about the track along the top of Bracy's lookout road.

Whoever is building it be warned. The authorities are not happy and have had many complaints.

The jumps are to be bull dozed and the track regenerated. Rangers will be increasing their patrols and anyone caught will be charged under the native vegetation act

at Glenrock-told 2 DH'rs a couple of Sundays ago that it was not authorised & it will be pulled down & then asked them to turn up to last Sat's open day to lobby for DH trails-guess what? they did not turn up!!
