Heading up the mountains for a few days over chrissy & keen to check out Rydal & maybe Lisdale , has anyone been there ? what's it like ? anything I should know ?

Lidsdale has been logged, no trails there anymore.
Info on Rydal can be found in the data base http://ctmbc.net/node/19024 and there are heaps more trail if you explore to the east, though the terrain gets steep
Easiest start point now is probably the show ground. head around to the eastern side and you'll see the single trail dropping off and crossing the bicentennial trail. Otherwise start behind the cemetery as per the listing
