tips about Quary Rd trail - Hornsby

Hi all,

I rode this trail quite a few times and I do it the following way:

1) Entering at the end of Stewart Ave, Hornsby.
2) Going all the way down to the bridge and then up until I reach that picnic area.

And here's the question - is there anywhere to go from there? I always turn around at that point and return to Steward Ave..

I heard there's more and I tried once to continue on a trail that starts from the far right side of the picnic area, but it got me no where and I turned around at some point, not sure where this trail leads to.

This trail is a great fitness builder and I'd love to extend the ride a bit, rather than simply doing it twice, which isn't what you feel like doing after you're back in Steward Ave... Smiling

Cheers!

There is an out and back from the campground which is good.
The trail continues on further if you keep climbing and will end up at Quarry Road Gate.

You could also ride down to Clarinda Street (to the north of Stewart St.) which has nice trails around the edge of the gorge through to Hornsby Heights.

There used to be a couple of short out and back singletracks up towards quarry rd. There was one on the right heading up neat a big old gum tree and one on the right that was a bit further up. I thought the trail near the picnic ground went all the way through to galston gorge.

@shano - thanks for the GPS route! I think I see that you rode too that extension I mentioned and it isn't a loop.

@jaseh - seems those two right turns are in the GPS track, right?

Thanks heaps! Now I know where I can go there! Smiling

So next is just to wait for my bloody hand to recover from this fracture I have... One more month....... what a waste of a spring! (fell on father's day!)... Smiling

Maybe we can arrange a ride there or something. Will wait for a green light from the doc first.. Smiling

At the end of Stuart avenue, you know you can also ride beside the houses (it is public land apparently) north to Clarinda and follow that fire trail north almost all the way to Montview Oval (where a jump and pump park see www.snorc.info will be built), then ride back along Galston Rd cycle lane, with a lap of Rofe Park and a stop at the hot food shop.

first trail is on the GPS log, the second one is on the left, not the right. I always started at quarry rd so got myself a little confused.

Thanks Shano, much appreciated. I'll give that a try sometime this week.
