Crazy Ideas
How much would it cost to build a mega shed somewhere for the purpose of housing an all weather indoor Mountain bike track? If you were clever you could design trails to change routes (like train tracks) to go from being a low tech XC run to a more challenging one??? Think big, like Woolworths warehouse big! Also think of Golden Jubes, but undercover. You could keep the greenies happy by collecting all the rain water! And we'd lighten the load on wet trails...
Yes i know, the rain is driving me crazy! But if this was Dubai....
You may not get the great environmental experience that we currently do, but it might help stop crazy MTBers from going nucking futz.
Oh and you could also have a crit track going around the perimetre to keep the other half happy...

Like Rays bike park?
I'm guessing somewhere between $5 and $5 Bajillion squillian
I just googled it - awesome! Just add trees...
With Australian property prices you'd need deeeep pockets.
But I notice there's some vacant land fenced off along Warringah Road next to Forest High that's going unused. Some darn rumour about a hospital going to be built there by the gov'mint...
but we know nothing like that *ever* happens in safe liberal seats (at least, not in my lifetime), so I'm kinda surprised that no-one's yet taken advantage of the site for a little unofficial trail building practice
at one stage up at Kurri/Weston there was a vacant distribution wharehouse that was massively long-but is now full of wine pallets now! but would have been perfect for an indoor park
Been thinking same Idea after coming back from Canada and especially w/ all this rain. Was thinking the old bunnings in chatswood but probably too small. Watched a few shows on new park in Toronto- Joyride 150. They cater to everyone and even busy in the summer too. Got to be someone who'd back it for sure.
That indoor park idea looks pretty damn good right now....
Might be an idea to make sure it floats...
If you really want to do this
Study current offerings worldwide
Conduct a feasibility study for profitability and the catchment of people you would be marketing to
Put your idea's down in writing
Create a business plan
If you dont have the dollars, Pitch to investors (preferably ones that are avid mountain bikers)
Most importantly, dont let anyone tell you it cant be done, constructive criticism is ok, but surround yourself with positive people that support the project.

Money follows management... got a candidate in mind with a track record?
If you build it they will come.
And by they I mean all your deceased bikes and components...better be a big shed...
agreed
wat the??
Its a little poking Sh1t at me... Monsier Pancakes knows that last year i managed to break a few bikes, bits and self...
Almost enough to fill a small stadium, garage, maybe a shed.
2012 will be the year of NOT breaking anything!
