Deflating UST tyres

I've had UST tyres for about 2 months with no problems, only needing to occasionaly top them up.
Then all of a sudden on Thursday morning after a Wednesday Night ride they were flat as a tack.
I pumped them up to 40 pounds and there is no apparent leakage (of air or sealant), then 48 hours later they were flat again.

I thought they were supposed to be self sealing, has anyone had this problem with UST's or know how to fix it.

Stands to reason there's air coming out of them somewhere, so I'd suggest dunking them in a sink full of water if you haven't already. You'll only be able to get part of the wheel in obviously but turn it gradually keeping at least a section of the tyre and rim fully submerged and see if any bubbles start to appear. Make sure you fully submerge the valve too to see if that's leaking air. Even if it's leaking very slowly you should still be able to see bubbles forming where there shouldn't be any.

You might have some dirt in between the rim and tyre, or a slow puncture somewhere, or a leaky rim join, or something else, but you won't know till you figure out where the leak's coming from. You're right they should be pretty well sealed usually and you shouldn't need Stans or the like.

Matt.

More than likely you've managed to roll them just enough to get a bit of grit in between the bead and the rim so it's not quiet sealing.

I always run some form of sealant in mine, Slime, Stans or other.

Thanks for the help guys, the leak was around the value seal - I tightened it a quarter of a turn with a pair of pliers and bobs your uncle.
