Symmetry in Wingello
A cold day in Wingello left me making my way down to the start with only a few minutes to spare.
I'd changed my entry from the 75km to the 50km during the week after my stack during the convict.
Set of on the fire trail at a fairly good pace, I'd taken the 26" duallie and was beginning to think the 29er HT would have been better but I wanted some extra comfort and bounce. Bit of congestion at times on the singletrack during the first lap and the final section of about 5km seemed to take forever. First lap over and a respectable 1hr 25mins. 2nd lap and more of a clear run on the singletrack but the fire trail towards the end was really challenging due to the head wind, knocked about 4/5k of the pace - that and I was knackered. The 80km road ride to west head on Saturday was taking it's toll. Started cramping in the last 5km of singletrack so stuck to spinning the legs as much as I could to get me home. 2nd lap over and again 1hr 25.
Race number was 30 and category position was also 30. Fairly happy with that as I'm only a year or two off the Masters so there must have been some young ones in there!
Didn't hang about at the end as it was too cold!

great recovery from the convict, well done Gary
Good to see that knock into the water last weekend didn't dampen your spirits. Nice consistent ride. Me likey. Well done.
Good work Gary. It must have been freezing as I was cold riding Terrey Hills.
I'd have kicked myself if I didn't do it so glad I got out there despite the cold. Only really felt the cold at the start and on some of the fire trails - my base layer was doing a good job.
@Phil & Craig - did you guys get down there and race?
It was Mothers Day no amount of leave passes can trump that card
