The James Williamson Enduro Challenge 2012
Wingello State Forest
Welcome to the second James Williamson Enduro Challenge, to be held on Sunday March 11th May 13th 2012.
Following the success of the inaugural event, the organisers were overwhelmed by riders’ positive comments and enthusiasm for this event. With this in mind, we are keeping the format of the race more or less the same as 2011, with a few minor changes to be introduced, to keep the trails flowing, and the riders pumped!
The James Williamson Enduro Challenge is a joint initiative of Southern Highlands Cycling Club (SHCC) and Canberra Off-Road Cyclists (CORC), held each year in March, in memory of James Williamson, World and Australian Champion Enduro mountain biker. James passed away on March 23rd 2010 while participating in the Cape Epic Mountain Bike Race in South Africa. James came from the Southern Highlands of NSW before moving to Canberra, and knew the trails of both areas well. James was renowned for his capacity to challenge himself and for his passion for mountain biking; this race helps keep his spirit alive.
The James Williamson Enduro Challenge is a non-profit event, with all proceeds going to the James Williamson Fund. Proceeds will be used in a range of ways to develop young riders and promote the sport of mountain biking. http://jameswilliamson.com.au/fund

Despite my broken shoulder.
I've signed up for the 75 again
And thanks for reminding me.
Will sign up tonight( if I havn't forgotten again?)
We definitely need to make amends for last year Phil. At least we had some fun chatting away at the rear of the field nursing injuries. See if we can race this time around.
Looking forward to it already Craig. Despite my DNF it was fun to see 1st, 2nd and 3rd come sprinting past lapping me for the finish line. At least I made it on to the TV coverage for Cycling Central - it will be the only time you ever see me crossing the finish line on telly
So have you signed up?
I'm in. Watch out, I'll be fit next year ...
Should be ripping it on a dually 29er by then!
Watch out for two cannondales for sale soon!
Always worth more as a pair
I'd understand if you were talking about me being an antique!
I have booked my place!
Moving on up doing the 50k's instead of the 25k's I did this year.
I will be fitter for next years one..............I hope
Once I get the all clear from the specialist in 2 weeks!
75km smashfest, cant wait for this now and CP a week later.
I am flying already.
so how many are doing the 75km?
That's me in French btw!
Hopefully beat Gazza again like last year!
Hopefully beat Gazza & Logan again like last year
To both of you!
I'm hoping to be right on form this year.
I'd better have my big wheels by then???
All 3 of you will beat me
@philberesford & I were hoping to do well this year as last year we were both nursing injuries so plodded around at the back chatting to each other.
I took about a month off as I was travelling for work then decided to be a good dad over Christmas. Started back on the bike 2 weeks ago. Set out to do a few laps of Manly Dam in the heat and lasted 1 lap, felt like throwing up at the end and did 33min - that used to be my 5 lap pace. Did a couple more rides during the week then cracked another rib...
I hope Phil's crook again so we can have another lovely day out catching up on stuff at the Willo...
But a slow 75...
Keep thinking about doing some training. So if the mental side is half the battle I am half way there.
Might start tonight.
Hey guys are there still some space for the 25km over 40's
Check the website.
Been down there for the last 2 weekends, the Willo organisers where working on parts of Nemesis and Tangles on my final lap yesterday and clearing some of the debris on the trail. It was a bit better wetter down there yesterday than last week and there was a massive downpour as we left yesterday.
Has everyone done enough training?
Based off yesterday, 01 is looking pretty strong, in particular on the fireroads where he is just pulling away from me at the moment....
Ha ha ,never ready, but Ill be there anyway, see you there
Craig, what one are you doing?
i have a banana bread in the oven.
entered the 50 Brian, see you down there!
I'm giving this one a miss. Have a good one.
Perfect prep for CP this one.
6 Days is more than enough to recover.
With all this wet stuff falling from the sky has it affected the trails much?
Or should we expect a mud slogging good time?
In 2 days....

I think with all this rain, trails at both the Willo and Cap Punishment are going to be questionable.
I have memories of the 2010 Cap Punshment that I would prefer to forget.
Forecast for next couple of week looks dire as well.
Not a good start to the race season.
On the Willo website it says the showers during the week, but sunny on the weekend. Wingello is a fair bit further south than Bowral, so yeah who knows. They have said they will run the race.
Cap Punishment, well who knows.
mmm - I don't think Wingello escaped too much look at the rainfall stats below
http://nobmob.com/weather
From Sydney to Canberra have ben hit pretty hard, with Goulburn about to flood.
Looking at the forecasted rainfall for next few weeks its not looking rosey

Lets all hope for some sunshine !!!
as long as it stops for the Mont
and the GST !
Indeed!
Its official now :-/
Maybe I can get one of them fancy new bikes like daveh and go for a stint around the dam instead !

It's often kind of wet in the Southern Highlands, add this rain and it's absolutely sodden at the moment. I was down there last weekend (no, I didn't try to ride Wingello, it was Berry Mountain Road instead) and there's just so much water everywhere, everything is a lake or a bog.
Doc, might have to bring the new "rigid" to The Mont if things don't dry up.
My uncle is a rural firey at Wingello and he got an email saying the new date for the event will be May 12 or 13.
Week after the convict 100 ................... ah well.
Hey Anthony,
So are you going to make this 4 races in a row. I didn't have a ticket for this and won't be trying source one
Cheers
Brian
