Surely this wont be on?
I hope it is as I need the practice and haven't ridden there for ages.
Check out the Awaba status. I have also heard from HMBA insiders that they do plan on going ahead. An official call will be made later in the week.
Does anyone know who to email for registration?
The radar is not looking good for this now
I'm out
Hey any updates on what conditions are like and if the XC race is still on?
Latwst news from the HMBA website
"Start: 16/06/2012 4:39 pm
After 2 track inspections today the conditions were still very acceptable at 4pm with virtually no rain recorded at Awaba all day.
At this point we will proceed tomorrow as per usual, but a call to cancel may come after a further inspection by myself before 6.30am in the morning.
We apologise for this arrangement but with the weather conditions so unpredictable, the track is teetering with any rain events.
The course to be used will be about 6km/ lap with A Grade hopefully completing 5 laps."
I'm just going to stick to the road bike tomorrow. Knowing my luck the track conditions will be great.
The yellow loop is generally pretty good in all but the worst conditions. The only part of the trail that would likely be in any trouble if there is rain is parts of Waynes World, so the trail should be fine.
The blue loop is when you drop into the low lying areas and a 6km loop would mean the track isn;t going there,
It's on but I'm out (young bloke had a rough night so I'm beat). Here's the official word from HMBA website:
TODAYS RACING 17th June

Reports in
No rain last night, slight breeze (drying) and radar clear, all systems go!
I've put the results up, thanks to the timing guys for getting them sorted so quick.

was it out there Lenny?
Don't know, I went and took my little girl for a ride on the lake foreshore.
The race was on the yellow loop so I suspect it was tacky at worst. The blue loop is where you start to run into issues on the trail at awaba and the race didn't go there. I'd be surprised if people even had mud on their bikes.
Someone else who was there can give a better idea though.
Not the yellow loop - same loop as we did in round 2 but without the wallaby climb.
Track was slippery but very rideable. The only boggy bits were the areas after the shute.
Bike did require a fair bit of Cleaning afterwards.
Awesome dAy for a race.
Thks to the timing guys for getting results out so quickly.
Sammy, noticeably absent from my debut HMBA Club race....
Most of track was fine (a little slippy) & a couple of real muddy puddles in there though!
Renno, I haven't raced for years. Occasionally I will be around watching with a beer, but not racing.
If you really need to see me ride, come to the HMBA social ride weekend at James Estate.
