hi guys i was doing some internet browsing across the general mountain bike gear websites such as torpedo 7 and came across this bike, I'm not knowledge of the brand and build quality of the bikes, has anyone had any dealings with khs.

the bike wouldn't be used as a purpose trail bike but for $900 i would probably use it for the commute and the odd trail ride instead of using the trance, id much rather a khs be stolen.

any comments, opinions and advice would be greatly accepted

About 6 months ago got a KHS 29er dualie from Torpedo for about that much, it was a "I wanna get get back into riding bike". I helped him put it together and have ridden it a few times and for the price I cant find a fault, yeah some components are not top quality but he is over 100kgs and rides road, fire trails and single track with no problems so far.

wicked, has he paid any attention to the frame though, any signs of cracks, I'm not really worried about components its just the frame really coz components can be upgraded etc.

i was also thinking if i had a mate who, didn't have a bike and wanted to go for a ride just chuck him on that and not worry about buckled wheels etc.

My mate bought one maybe 6 months ago for just general trail use... frame has held up well but components are basic and once you start taking it off the firetrails and easy singletrack and beating it up then you will start seeing some issues.

(really pinning it around manly dam would probably start causing issues)

But they'll be fixed up fixed up quick smart with upgrades on parts. It is a bargain, but at the same time you get what you pay for, provided you know your way around a bike and dont mind doing some bush mechanics every now and then you'll be fine.

Looks like a bargain to me! Sure, the brakes will need changing before too long and the bars, stem, cranks & seatpost are all in-house stuff, but they're all bits that'll get slowly upgraded over time anyway!

Suspension is a 4-bar layout, so should be OK, and the shock can be upgraded over time as well if it doesn't hold up.

An ex-GF of mine had an older KHS 4" XC bike, it it help up to years of hard riding from her!

As a kick-about bike, looks pretty good! I reckon go for it!
