Hi
I am just wondering if there is a Legal way to ride a Mountain Bike between Audley Weir and the Visitor Center on Farnell Ave avoiding Audley road which is narrow and dangerous for a bike.

On Google Maps you can clearly see some large sections of Fire trail through the bush however the National Parks does not have this marked on their legal bike trails.

I would be nice to be able to ride Lady Carrington as part of a loop from Waterfall to Audley - Loftus - Heathcote and back to waterfall.

Thanks

AFAIK All firetrails in NP's are permitted (unless signed?).

Can anyone confirm?

It's also tricky getting between Heathcote and Waterfall. There used to be a fireftrail that followed the train tracks, but that was fenced off a few years ago.

Would be a great loop if it was possible to avoid so much road.

It makes a good loop but unfortunately does involve sealed roads.

Because Farnell Ave is so busy, especially on the weekends, I prefer to ride down to Audley from Sutherland (faster than driving) then along lady Carrington then up the sealed road to Waterfall. The road up to Waterfall is just as narrow but not as busy and better visibility for motorists. A shame to lose access to the bush section from Waterfall to Heathcote but there are apparently endangered animals in the area. You can get back off road again by going over the foot bridge at Heathcote train station and around the back of the SES station. Take your pick of routes through East Heathcote/Engadine and back to Sutherland/Loftus Oval. Enjoy!
