I finished assembling this last night from parts I had lying around, scabbed off ride buddies, bought off rotorburn and a few little ebay items. Its my daughter's new mtb and rather than spend the same amount of money (around $500 including the respray) on something new that is crappy and heavy , I got some better quality 2nd hand parts and put it together.

Frame is a small size STP resprayed at Gripsport beautifully.

Forks are from my Melbourne riding buddy who destroyed his shoulder riding these when he screwed up a jump. Luckily the forks were fine even though he got a new metal plate in his shoulder. XT drivetrain parts from him too.

Brakes are Juicy 3s I had lying around from some abandoned project???

Wheels, cranks, chainguide, headset from my old Trance (RIP). Lots of other bits from drawers (never throw out anything!)

Even has some blue "bling" in the lock-on grips and chainring bolts.

Taking it out for her first MTB ride on it tomorrow... should be an upgrade from her 20" Giant MTB.

rip TRANCE ... I miss mine too ... only due to sentimental reasons in that the old girl got me through alot of learning curve.

Turned out nice and best of all she can hand it down to her old man later in life Smiling

Looks neat Mog. Should be great fun out riding with your daughter, I know I had some great times out riding with the kids.

Excellent build there Mog, I'm sure she'll love it! I like the extra attention to the small details, which should hopefully let her love it even more!

Thanks guys... she was very proud that people commented positively on it on a forum too.

She rode it on the weekend at Scribbs and she loves it! She got very excited when she railed a few berms and hit some rougher stuff and isnow insisting we go out tomorrow arvo. Excellent!
