Ferei BL 200 lights

I've just had dropped off for review a set of Ferei BL 200 lights.

First impressions:
They make my 3.5yo AyUps look like demented glow worms. These puppies put out some serious lumens.

As a commuter lightset there is NO risk of outrunning these at any achievable speed on high beam, even on the ghastliest of wet nights. They claim a 270m range. I believe it. Using high beam on a bike path could be dangerous to other cyclists.

The beam has a well defined edge, so not sure how they will fare as a bar set off- road when the track gets into fast bermed switchbacks like Kowalskis Sideshow at The Mont, but it sounds like i might be out of excuses to go for a night ride.

Post a link or some pix. Nobody will search for them Eye-wink

The T6's are good lights. Good distance, but not enough spread for mtb.
On the road I use 1x T6 based spot. Usually on low is plenty. Very similar to yours but 1 led, and they push it to within an inch of its life. (A claimed 1200 lumens)
For MTB I use that on my helmet, and 2x 1600lm floods on the bars.

Do they make them in carbon?

Yes you can get them in carbon black Eye-wink , as well as blue, gold, and to go with your bling Hans... red. Although its more like pink Sad

Review on these lights will go to "press" some time this week.

Nice write up.

I've got a T6 based light I use on my head. Good distance I do need more spread for mtg so I use 2x 1600lm *claimed) flood lights. I do use the T6 for road, and its perfect.

Have you looked into lenses that will spread the beam?

sorry that programming would be a deal breaker for me.

Having to turn the lights off to go from low beam back to high beam, it's not a bloody torch

Kit has picked up on something important, which is why i spent a paragraph discussing it in the review.

What it means is: as you pick up speed on a descent you have to cycle through the OFF phase before you get high beam back. Could be lived with better if it went off-low-high. It's common to a lot of lights at that price point, including Magicshine if memory serves correctly. Still, it is less than ideal.

For lapping the Mont circuit you could just leave it on high. I got 1hr 40+ from a charge so no risk of running short unless you're a double lap masochist.

That said, i could have emphasised it better in the conclusion. Will get it changed.

you would still be looking to run a helmet light as most race organisers require redundancy.

And it just makes sense. Who wants to be stuck in the middle nowhere in freezing temps unable to ride out because some tree ripped out your cable? Stuff happens.

John you were clear as day in your review, that is where I picked it up.
