Recovery is a bitch!
So as many of you know I have been off due to an unfortunate incident at Manly Dam over the October long weekend which resulted in a nasty break at the Radial Head of my elbow. After Surgery inserting plates and screws to help set the bones in place I have been back to get assessments on how my bones heal....
As it seems I am healing "as good as can be expected" came from the surgeons mouth...might i mention that he has a striking resemblance to Dr Spengler from the Ghostbusters (both Mel and I now find it hard to look him in the eye without a rye smile).....
Back to the blog..... I expected to hear "your healing well and will be back on the bike in no time!"....aahhh well no.
After much discussion with the 'expert' i found out that my time on the bike in the next 3-4 months may be limited if not at all....it seems i did a proper job on my arm and another fall anytime soon and i may have serious problems...like having to have the head of the radius removed all together and a metal insert to replace it...i know what some of you are thinking "We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We can make him better than he was. Better...stronger...faster." Obviously this is we want but i don't think thats the extent i want to go to right now.
So I am looking at another definite 8 weeks off any bike apart from a wind trainer.. at which time i get more x-rays and a CT scan to determine how well my bones are healing.
So in 8 weeks we'll know if i can hit the roadie up for some training or not....
For now I am offering my services as CAMERA BITCH for rides in and around the Sydney area, rides where i can walk in and out of the terrain from suburbia take a few pics and head out while you all ride you merry hearts out. So keep an eye out on trail sometime soon we might meet again through the other end of a lens.
Cheers all
Sam

Man what a bitch, I would be, as I'm sure you are, going stir crazy!
Your photo skills for hire (free) is a good idea for keeping youself in the loop as it were and as I'm planing another jump/launch training day in January we could use your services, I'll post the date soon.
Anyway take care of the arm and keep up the physio, bend arm drink beer, bend arm drink beer
Catch Ya soon Sam
Greg
That is a bummer Sam. We are all missing your irreverant brand of humour on our rides. It will be good to have you back in a couple of months.
I will try to remember your offer... there will surely be plenty of opportunity over the coming Christmas holidays. The rides calendar will literally be full of rides you can come and lend a hand (erm, finger) to.
Hope to see you soon.
Can you do any spinners classes at the gym? They're pretty good for the cardio
Get better soon
Andrew
mate, i can honestly feel your pain. On the lighter side though, from what ive experienced over the last few months is doctors love to give the worst case scenario so when you start to heal earlier than normal it makes them look like they've caused a miracle to happen! All the best mate. Get well soon.
i am so sorry, you must be going mad - does Mel need a medal for putting up with you?!
it would be great if you came out on any rides as a walker - perfect speed for me to keep up with!
at least we can still see you for social events yes?
mmmm beer!
MEEEE
sorry to hear that it will take even longer!
Sounds like we have to organise a catch up at the Oaks sometime soon!
See you soon,
C
obviously a pub and not the ride caro?
a very nice pub around the corner here!
I think you'll have to come over and try.
In Neutral Bay?
But that would mean crossing the Bridge ... I'm staying on this side of the bridge in a "keeping it real pub" thank you very much ...
To all your comments look forward to catching up soon.
Sam
When can you ride again?
