Recovery from injury
Riding with a repaired achilles rupture
Is anyone familiar with recovery from an achilles rupture and riding trails with the boot on?
Ruptured my right leg a few weeks ago and currently in the robocop boot.
My ortho surgeon is not comfortable with the idea of riding, pointing out traction issues and reinjury, so advised against it.
But quite a few patients have hit the road first and eventually onto the trails, with the exception of this fella pictured.

I have flat pedals on my AM rig and dont really intend to hit the tech stuff until later in my recovery.
I'm *almost* back on the bike...
So after 5-ish weeks off the bike due to the broken wrist (scaphoid) I finally had the cast taken off yesterday!
Back on the stationary gym-bike today, and hoping to be back on the real bike in a few weeks time.
I'll need to, given the 10kg of beer-weight I've put on...
See you on the trails soon,
Don
Cleared to Ride!
Just got back from a consult. Mr surgeon seems quiet proud of his work. Says I need to massage the scar to soften it up (any takers?). Most importantly says I can go riding again!
In fact, he says masses of MTB riding will help[1]!
Excellent!
[1] OK, that last part is a lie.
Recovery is a bitch!
So as many of you know I have been off due to an unfortunate incident at Manly Dam over the October long weekend which resulted in a nasty break at the Radial Head of my elbow. After Surgery inserting plates and screws to help set the bones in place I have been back to get assessments on how my bones heal....
As it seems I am healing "as good as can be expected" came from the surgeons mouth...might i mention that he has a striking resemblance to Dr Spengler from the Ghostbusters (both Mel and I now find it hard to look him in the eye without a rye smile).....
