So this morning I headed for Redfern via the Harbour Bridge, having never done this before I decided to take the most direct route along George St. I managed to make it through only 1 set of lights without stopping. Every other set of lights of (which there was more than I think I've ever encountered on a single ride before) caught me out. Is there a better way with fewer lights?

Thanks

There is no way to avoid lights in the city. Sussex St seems to offer a better run though. When you come off the bridge go right and into the rocks. Go down past the Lord Nelson and loop down to Hickson Rd. This becomes Sussex. Take it all the way to the end and then either jig up to George or right through the bottom of Haymarket up to Central.

You can also do the run along Barrangaroo / King St Wharf / Cockle Bay / Darling Harbour. A few pedestrians in the morning, impossible in the evening.

I'll try the Sussex St way in the morning.

And what about the way back? any recommendations?

Theres a oneway northbound slip road that runs back ofthe Darling Harbour restaurant strip and aquarium that eventually becomes two way and rejoins Sussex St-Hickson Rd. I think its Harbour St Wheat Rd Shelley St. (NOT Slip Rd which ends neatly at the goods entrance to my building Eye-wink )

Hope thats useful (and decipherable)

The slip rd starts at the Imax and is the way home. It becomes Shelly St then bends into Hickson Rd. Getting to the start will be the challenge. You could probably come in the Darling Harbour and past the Commbank Building.

I know that one from my days commuting from Ultimo. Now linking it up from Redfern however... I'm sure I'll figure it out. Thanks for reminding me about that way Hawkeye.
