Fast laps of the Dam...start at The Parkway or the Pump station?
Or is there no difference in the end.
I always start at the parkway but was wondering if there's a school of thought about this out there.
Was wondering if having fresh legs for the climb to the Trig point would make it easier for the whole lap.

I set my sub 30 lap from the parkway so I reckon that's the best place.
That said I've started from no where else
I once got the BIG tip from Mr KOM on the Hot Lap board who whispered "Hydro" as the last bit is downhill. I tried it and didn't make a difference for me...but obviously at 24 mins it works for him.
I always start from the parkway (because that's the closest entrance to me) and I think you get used to what you need to do in each section. I know i need to be at the single track at around 8 mins - Hydro in 14, Bowling club around 22 etc etc. I think most would know it in a similar way.
Grab the popcorn there should be a nice debate on this
I think the parkway is a good place to start. Downhill start so your legs will be relatively fresh when you hit hearbreak hill and to climb all the way to the 19th hole.
Over the years I've started at several points (North Balgowlah, Manly Vale School, The Hydro station and The Parkway). My fastest laps have been starting at North Balgowlah, just after Manly Vale school (and yes I have included the road climb in the time). I just find when I start at the parkway my legs aren't warmed up for the climb. Also it gives me more time to find my groove for the downhill to the Hydro.
I found starting from the Hydro Lab instantly knocked around 2min off for me (back when I was a bit fitter!) and as you know I usually start at the Parkway. For me it felt a lot faster from the Hydro Lab to the Parkway as I felt much fresher than when I normally get to the Lab.
My best lap was started from the parkway.
If I start from the lab I am usually stuffed at the by the rock steps after the golf course and suffer the rest of the lap. Starting from the parkway you can go hard up the big fire road hill and still be recovered by the time you get to the lab.
Bloody hell Rich you could have told me!!!
If it works for you like it did me, there's a 33min for ya.
Also Nige, Removing Fluid From Brake Lines. Anyway get back to work !
is 24 minutes even possible? lol
How someone could finish a lap of Manly Dam in a bit over the time it takes for me to do half a lap just seems impossible lol
