Jet Black 24 Hr Mt Annan 2012 6+6 master pairs

What a race. Great friendly atmosphere by the organisers. No request was too difficult. So friendly & accommodating. The whole event went like clockwork. Or at least that's what it seemed like to me as a very happy customer.

Camping was great too except idiot campers camping right on top of us moving our markers. F*&*&n idiots . Such an aggravation. People just don't think or just don't care. Anyway....

The heat. .... Far out. Yea I know we were were warned. First 2 or 3 laps were great. Even enjoyable. But then It was like hitting a brick wall. Even with drinking heaps & keeping the head cool. Eventually thecramping started. I think my forth lap was in the vicinity of over 40 min. Got home to camp. Thinking: "I can't do another one". Looking like a shattered rider. Legs going , mind going. I was delirious. Couldn't work out how long before I had to get back to transition like how hard is it. 4:25 plus about 25 minutes. When do I have to be back at transitiion?...LOL
But then I did manage to get myself ther right on time. At the same time the southerly Change came through. Maybe only a few degrees. This made about 4 min difference in my lap time.
We got 11 Laps in before our day was over.
Sat back spent some time with the kids & fell assleep through the pounding music that was playing at Central Station( errr Transition area)

Next day was almost identical. Except we were woken up with some fantastic music at 5:45.

First few laps were great. Temperature was rising. Laps were starting to take longer each time. Cramping was kept under control with stretching after each lap. Lap 4 I was shagged. I knew I only had 1 left in me. Which lucky for us was my last one.

We came in 3rd in the 6+6 master pairs. 2 laps behind 2nd 3 laps behind 1st..

Way way ahead of 4th & 5th.

Will I be back next year? I think I'm done with racing.

Of course my riding partner is a sensational rider. His laps were consistant, always much faster than my own. He is a quality rider. Cheers Oli
