Sacrilege or cool? Super Light MX bike!
Kiwis build the world's lightest MX bike....based on downhill bike components....
I know it's a sacrilege ...but cool at the same time.

But more like a trials bike than a MX bike, I wonder how much lighter/better it is than a trials beast
My ancient Bultaco Sherpa 350 Trials bike was 82kg and climbed over everything without tearing up the trail (...too much)...this NZ beast is 57kg....with the same power output.
Modern Trials bikes are around 70kg....

Gee, I wonder why they are doing this?
I mean, if you want to show how light it is, why not a nice shot of a smiling rider lifting it into the back of their ute or something?
Maybe cool in their place, buuuuut...
Not sure who Kirkcaldie is kidding about these lightweight bikes not doing "damage to the trail" but the sections of track at the start of the vid look suspiciously like mountain bike tracks they were ripping up.
Perhaps not quite as bad as full-size MX bikes, but they still put out too many tens (hundreds?) of multiples of human leg power to the back wheel.
Being able to break up and throw rooster tails of dirt while climbing steep slopes is not something I'd like to see on our trails.
lifting the bike over the fence to get from the cops as they raid his dope plants!!!
this would be awesome around the dam right??
I wouldn't deny that they look like fun in the right place but keep them away from my local mountain bike tracks please.
