Trail link between Westleigh and Hornsby
Trying to work out a riding course between Cherrybrook and Hornsby. Does anyone know if there is a trail link between Warrigal road Westleigh and Valley road Hornsby? Looking at Google Earth it looks like there is a chance between the RFS site at Westleigh, across the back of some houses and out on Valley road

Yeah it's pretty easy... I tried out a a path the other day coming home from Hornsby, as I didnt have a map with me (phone was flat), I was going off my mind map.
From Quarry Rd I avoided the heratige listed walking track & went via road Dural St, Rosemead Rd, Valley Rd. I jumped on the 1st firetrail I found (think it was called GingerMegs?), anyway it was next to the waterboard on the west most point of Valley Rd (a better choice would have been the deadend Southern most point of Valley road as it would have avoided a massive hillclimb).
Anyway, the firetrail was all good, did a few switchbacks and a steep concrete ascent up behind houses (near higgins pl). Was tough to get back to road, ended up following a very faint walking track west for a couple of hundred meters and poped out at Russel Cres.
Anyway, 70% of this was off the bike and it was still relatively easy. On the way past the RFS, I had a quick look at the lay of the land, and it's a lot more forgiving.
I rode from Thornleigh to OMV today. The firetrail that runs from the end of Wareemba Ave Thornleigh to Valley Rd Hornsby is all rideable, apart from about 20 steps up to Valley Rd (right at the southernmost point of Valley Rd.). It's a bit of a climb up Rosemead Rd... 100m vertical, avg grade 14%.
Coming home I took a right turn on the firetrail following a signpost to Westleigh RFS, but had to carry my bike up about 100 steps.
I went up Ginger Megs and then an insanely steep concrete section followed by about 200metres bashing along the back of the houses until a gap between houses allowed me to pop out onto Russell avenue. I will go your way next time JP. 100 steps sounds a crap load easier than what I did
Shindawg, do you think the 200 metre "faint walking track" could be made into a rideable section?
I think I retraced the same hike a bike steps on Sunday running extremely close to the back of houses with stay out signs erected. It's also in the National Park I think
