This is the most tragic thing.
On a personal level I was priviledged to be friends with Burry, having spent so much time training in South Africa with the guys over there. I am devastated. It seems so close to home.
From a sporting perspective, he was one of the greats, and we will never know how good he really could have been.
It was only 2009 that he was winning the U23 World Champs in Canberra! I remember chatting with his dad there - he was so proud of his son.
A few of us raced with / against him in Malaysia recently too. He was so talented, yet so humble and such fun.
He was THE poster boy for African cycling and MTB - African sport in general.
Such a lovely bloke.
Take care out there everyone - if it can happen to Burry, it can happen to any of us. No amount of talent or skill makes you car proof.
I just don't believe it.
Speechless!
No words can describe the pain his family is enduring now

Not just for mountain biking but for anyone using the road. A Taxi of all cars! Are they not professional road users..
Was gutted to hear of his passing-so much promise RIP Burry
Sad loss for mountain biking and South Africa. Thoughts with his family
There was a mass ride of remembrance in honour of Burry on Thurs or Friday I believe...fitting tribute...anyone seen any pics?
