UPDATE:

Let's go swimming instead.

Somehow not the best idea in the world to trash a track the first day of its use...

I hope they put on something special because it deserves something special.

It's a great trail centre and worthy of a big official opening.

Some local bike shop and mag support would be awesome too.

A trail worth celebrating!

I was told by council that the opening ceremony is not for public invite and that the track would not be open until midday. Perhaps you could consider moving the time to then?

"Steve Russell, Mayor of Hornsby Shire, would like you to join him for the official opening of the Hornsby MTB Trail, Stage 1 at Old Man's Valley. This is an opportunity for Council to thank everyone who has been involved in this project

Saturday 2 Feb 9:30am-10:30am

Bring your bike to enjoy a ride around the new trail. Children are most welcome.

Yes but the invitation is to you (the email recipient).

.... so they have an idea of numbers coming to the official part of the opening. From 12 it's on for young and old....

Rob's picture

Yes, I got a similar invite. However, I then asked if it was public and was told no, limited numbers.

Please move this to midday or we will have to remove it from the calendar.

Right no worries. Yeah I got a number of messages about it so assumed open invite (still wondering w. hy that's the case)

Hi all,

Unfortunately due to wet weather, tomorrow's official opening of the Hornsby Mountain Bike Trail has been cancelled and a new date will be set sometime in the near future.

The trail remains closed and may not be ridden by anybody. One of the conditions of track usage is that it not be ridden during wet weather, to avoid unnecessary damage to the trail.

We're very sorry for getting everybody excited, only to have our hopes dashed by the weather. We remain very proud of this project and will be in touch before long with a new opening date.

Regards,

Nicholas Cook
Communications Support Officer
