I am looking at getting my girl a new bike as her $150 aldi special isn't doing it and her at 160cm on my large hard tail isn't great either so I am on the look out for a good deal on a new or used bike if you guys know of any around

do you want to spend and what type of bike? XC?

Balls. Thought I put those in already.
She is 50kg and will be doing XC riding, not looking for anything flash around $1500 is good

TH 29er fans will hate this and jump on the band wagon so donning the flame suit now. But being that small, she may be better on a 650B, or a normal 26" dually. handle bar height and geo might be a bit out of wack at that size and might not be as fun compared to a lower setup on a 26/650.

In saying that, 1500 isn't going to get you much in a dually if buying new. But could be lucky if you find an older 2011/12 26"

I know 1500 isn't much for a 29er, I just thought I would put it out there just in case someone had one laying around or a shop was trying to move old stock

ride 29ers
If they didn't then the bike companies would only make medium/large not small or extra small.
No, I am not a midget, I am over 6ft... just sayin...

I got my 29er at Hornsby cycles for under $700. Merida MT 100. Got my wife a hybrid on the same day. Total for the two, $1400.

Go see the staff there, friendly, courteous, no pressure and will look after you.

Looking for a full sus rather than a hard tail, she isn't going to try for the world title, just enjoy her riding.

The good old double post

Don't know too many that make 29ers in XS. Enough challenges with toe overlap on 26ers in that size without going to the bigger hoops.

Edit: found one. $1800 Anthem 29er 4W

thanks Hawkeye, that is the bike that I have been looking at, and I know at Bike Addiction they actually have a XS Anthem W Demo bike to test, so we will be going to to give it a try as soon as we can, possibly not today due to the weather!
