Just joined. Live in Turramurra, have dual suspension Trek, ride Sunday AM, about 20-30 Km, sometimes during week. Mostly the Lane Cove tracks, Manly Dam and Oxford Falls.

Most interested in other tracks we could ride, no more than I hours drive. Have one beginner in group, but he completed the Manly Dam circuit with only minor injuries and improves weekly.

Welcome mate. What kind of riding do you enjoy? Open fire trail, single track, techy stuff etc... a great option is to give cascades a run if you haven't done so already. only 10mins from your door and has a great mix of everything including hills, technical, single track and fire trails. Can also be joined up with a few extra kilometers of single track behind the showground or even oxford falls if your daring enough Eye-wink

Otherwise, if theres a place you particularly want to visit, you can always add it to the ride calendar and i'm sure a regular will come show you around. You've got some great rides on your doorstep including manly dam, "old mans valley", cascades, jubes, terry hills, oxford falls, red hill etc...

Welcome and good luck with your riding!

Thanks for welcome. I prefer the single tracks, but a lot seem to be getting closed to bikes, and a few in Lane Cove below the archery range are even closed to walkers. Unfortunately, the other guy I ride with prefers the firetrails. As far as 'techie' stuff goes, I don't understand the term. Is it the hard bits, ie rocky, steep hills etc?
Never heard of Cascades, will try and find it. Meant to do Oxford Falls tomorrow, but maybe the rain will kill it

... means trail sections that require more advanced bike handling skills, as opposed to those bits that require only strength and cardio capacity like a steep but smooth climb

So that could mean rock and log drops, rocky step-ups, rock gardens, skinny elevated bridges, tree root formations, and so on. You will encounter most or all of these on most northern singletrack Sydney trails.

The difference between beginner, intermediate and advanced is the degee of difficulty and challenge.
