You ripper!
Awesome !
Well done to all of you who have been pushing this for so long! This should be an epic trail.
this is fantastic news
is there a link to the suggested map?
couldn't find it anywhere on the site above
Outstanding job to everyone involved!
This is great news. Will it be an technical style trail or more of a flowing type trail or is that still to be discussed?
Well done to all involved.
Lets hope it has the same love that OMV has been given. Given it's amazing location it should have a bit of everything, certainly a nice bit of climbing. Lots of scope for some technical sections as well.
It's not still April fools is it?
Congrats Simon and everyone who contributed / worked hard to/for this project but let's not get too carried away as there is the finalising of the environmental impact assessment yet. Sounds very promising though.
Yes, this is great news and I hope it doesn't get too bogged down in red tape and addressing environmental issues.
May be too early to tell but will it involve much of the existing closed off trail network?
Given this is the first formal trail under the new policy it would be a major egg on face explozion if showstoppers were found after this announcement. I think theyve got themselves reasonably comfortable there will be no surprises.
The most likely impediment will be funding. Given a large chunk of the user pool will be in the state treasurers electorate i think npws have chosen well.
Doesnt mean we can sit back and stop driving it along though.
starts at home.
Do you really think that in this day and age that
is a valid statement with regard to securing state govt funds?
delivers public recreation with massive social and health benefits while also addressing some environmental and cultural heritage issues.
A lot of case studies also show trails pay for themselves through supporting the local economy. Reduced burden on the health system is something I'd like to quantify.
Sure, other recreational pursuits also offer social and health benefits. But on a cost per user basis mountain bike riding beats most things by far. Eg sporting ovals and swimming pools. It is also an activity that is accessible across a range of demographics.
It is also located where there is massive and ongoing community support by riders across the general population.
I think these are sound reasons why our cause and Bantry Bay has had solid support from Mike Baird and buy in from the current and previous State Governments.
It is money well spent.
The impact on us is that it improves our chances of getting it over the line and demonstrating the outstanding benefits to the community and economy without getting torpedoed by something unrelated from left field.
