hi everybody,

i am currently living in ireland but im heading to australia in a few weeks and am just looking for a bit of information on downhill riding around sydney and australia in general as im heading to sydney 1st but plan to travel a bit in the next 2 years. is there a good place to buy and sell downhill bikes or look at second hand bikes as im finding it hard to get much of an idea at what a bike would cost me over there and dont really see anywhere to buy second hand bikes. im currently riding a trek session 9.9 and i am considering taking it with me but if it would be cheaper to buy the same bike in australia i could just sell it here an it would cut out all the hassle and expense of shipping. any info on general downhill riding and buying/selling bikes would be great.

thanks,
cal

I think your better off bringing your bike with you. Bikes are expensive in Oz plus not as much supply compared to o'seas.
I was living in Whistler (Canada) for the last 2 years which is where I started downhilling. Just arrived back so keen to meet other people to ride with (shuttle) cause none of my friends here are into downhill. I have never done downhill in Australia but am going to try Oxford Falls in the Northern Beaches first. When do you arrive in Oz? We can organise a ride day. Or anyone else out there want to do some DH in Sydney?
