NEW COURSE IN 2013!
Now in its 3rd year – The Kanangra Classic is a great weekend of outdoor recreation held in the beautiful Kanangra Boyd National Park. Located just 146km west of Penrith and approx 30 minutes from the Oberon township the Kanangra Boyd National Park is an iconic part of the greater Blue Mountains.
The Mountain Bike course starts and finishes at Jensens Farm just a few hundred metres from Boyd River Camp Ground. An event enjoyed by riders of all levels, the course is characterised by huge amounts of double trail, making for a fast and fun ride with several opportunities to get wet. The course is well marked and with plenty of aid available.
The course in 2013 features the removal of the “inner loop” and a more fast and flowing course – bound to excite both new and returning punters!
The event is in its third year in 2013 and having sold out completely in 2011 & 2012 and with a huge wait list we expect a quick sellout in 2013.
The weekend will consist of 2 Mountain Bike events:
Sunday: Kanangra Classic – 100km Mountain Bike Enduro
Sunday: Kanangra Classic – 50km Mountain Bike Enduro
** Riders have the opportunity to do a 50km Run on the Saturday and the 50km Ride and combine their race times for the Kanangra Challenge event.
Saturday: Kanangra 50 Trail Ultra – 50km Trail Run
Saturday: Kanangra Half Marathon – (22km) Trail Run
Saturday: kanangra 50 Trail Ultra – Relay – 33km/17km Trail Run.

First 50km race for me...
Camping and catering link is now live if anyone thinking of camping etc.
My first lengthy solo event too! Did you end up buying a new steed Sikllama?
Has been ordered and the race before the race is on to see if it will arrive before the kanangra classic. It's due the day after would you believe but the guys at the LBS say there's a chance it may arrive early. At this stage I'm assuming I'll be riding my existing bike
PM me beforehand and we'll organise to catch up over the weekend. I'll be camping on site with a mate also doing his first race, planning to ride over to kanangra walls on the sat arvo after rego. It's only about 12km return from the campsite according to google.
Is this event been canned for the weekend ?
Yep - disappointed but it's the right decision given the circumstances. Race debut will have to wait!
