Riding in the catchment area near Kanangra/Yerranderie

There appear to be a few tracks around the mining town south of Kanangra Boyd National Park. This area is in an SCA special area. However, the SCA says that bicycles may still be ridden on public roads in the special areas.

a. Is there any good riding around there?
b. Are there any 4wd tracks in the area which count as public roads?

I've driven the road to Yerranderie and would not recommend you ride it. It is heavily used (or was when we were there - although that was an easter break) by 4WDs. It's a skinny road and has numerous blind corners which would not be pretty if you met something coming the other way.

It's also quiet steep so the ride back might be a bit of a challenge.

You'll probably have a much better time if you stick to riding the fire/management trails in Kanangra-Boyd National Park. Check out the profile here:

Thanks Rob, I'll check out the route you suggested when I get back to Sydney.
