Well after a lot of time in the planning, the Jetblack 12 hr at Dargle farm represented the first real team hitout for the SXC Racing Team.

After are few last minute injuries and a bit of team juggling, we managed to enter 3 teams for the event – Masters Men, Open Men and Mixed Open Teams.

The weather for the day was spectacular, and after a pre course recee ride the course was also in perfect condition.

Our teams were all pretty well stacked with some of the best riders for each category, and we were hopeful for good results across the day, but you never know until the racing begins.

Gazza led out the Masters team, and the Jetblack field for the first lap, setting a cracking pace, returning back to transition in 4th place. This gave our Masters team a great starting lead which we continued to build upon throughout the day.

The Mixed and Open teams, also had great starts leading from the first lap, and continuing a cracking pace throughout the day. All riders punching way above their weight to keep the competitors at bay.

At the half way mark, the Masters and Mixed teams had their category positions all but secured, but the Opens team was in a tussle for first. Brian punched out a couple of solid back to back laps to secure 2nd position, but the Newy Cogheads were a little too strong and maintained their first place position until the end of the race.

With the Masters team clearly ahead of our competition, we noticed that we were also challenging for overall honors against the young guns, open teams and Jason English. With that we continue to push out consistently fast laps times right to the end and managed to secure 2nd position overall for the day.

Some stand out rides for the day, being Gary Harwood, mid way through the day managed to punch out the 2nd fastest lap time of the day, and his partner Martine Robin securing the 1st and 2nd fastest female lap of the day. Awesome effort team – not bad for the over 40 crew.

Overall the team results speak for themselves:

Masters Men, 2nd Overall, 1st in Category 26 laps
Open Mixed 1st in Category 24 laps
Open Men 2nd in Category 24 laps

A great achievement for the teams first hitout as a team.

Thank you to the sponsors and Rocky Trail, Martin & Juliane for organising such an awesome event.

Great results all! Wonderful weather on the day - and the track improved in the arvo.

Don't miss the next WSMTB club XC round on 22 Sept at Yellomundee.

Well done guys, you smashed it. I saw a few of your lap times during the day, bloody quick and consistent.
Those juniors were amazing, lapping every team in the race. I managed to get a tow for the last 3rd of the lap off one of them as he lapped us........ I was amazed how small he was and still laid down the power on the fireroad leading from the dam back toward the event centre.
I raced with the AMB team and we did OK.

Consistency was certai ly order for the day.

Ian you kept some pretty respectable lap times of your own.

Well done !

Great day out and wonderful to be a part of it !

Congrats to all competitors and organisers and volunteers that make this such a really good event.

The track maintenance through the day was really appreciated. The couple of sticky mud sections looked dodgy early in the day but managed really well. The line change on the traverse after the dam was a bit of a surprise though.

And a special mention to the "pesky kids" for taking out the win. Some fantastic riding !
