Proposed Belrose Waste Management Site Bike Park - Biobanking Agreement

Hey guys,

It appears that the Belrose Waste Management Facility has entered into a formal agreement with the Dept of Health &/or NPWS to provide 10Ha of land as part of a biobanking arrangement to offset the new Frenchs Forest Hospital destroying the endangered Duffys Forest vegetation on site.

Now, I don't necessarily want to get into the whole debate about how protecting one piece of land can justify the destruction of another, but does anyone know whether this is likely to affect the proposed Bike Park, that was being proposed by the Belrose Waste Management Facility, as part of their contractual site remediation, for when the site is de-commissioned?

Surely you can't 'bank' a piece of degraded land like the Waste Management Facility in exchange for a site in it's 'natural' state?

Doh! Sad

The area involved is so named the 10 hectare lot and is natural bush land containing a hanging swamp and other sensitive features. It lies on the northern boundary between the tip site and Austlink Park. There was talk on NPWS acquiring it but it has been up for bio banking for close to 12 months. Sounds like a Brad Hazzard contra deal.
