Fox CTD Fork

This is a question for anyone using a FOX CTD front fork.

It's got three modes, Climb, Trail, Decent. On mine I can't actually notice any difference between the T and D mode in the front fork. Is that how they are or might I have an issue with it? The C or lockout is fine but the T mode gives me full travel with the same resistance and feel as the D or full travel mode.

The rear suspension has a definite difference between T and D modes which makes me think the front should be the same.

Anyone with experience with these forks?

I have a 2013 Giant Trance x 29er, Fox Forks. I have also just tried my ones, as you say there does not seem to be a difference in the Trail/Decent Modes, as you also mentioned Lock out dioes what its supposed to, maybe a ride is the best way to check rather than me just pushing the forks, to see the difference.

Trail is meant to be "less open" than descend. I played with the settings a bit during CP and found D offered better handling than T. Strangely, it also offered better climbing. I now suspect you're better off either fully open or fully closed. I plan on playing a bit more.

Ive got them on my Superfly and there is a noticeable difference between the T and D . Have you gone to the website to get the starting pressures and settings for your weight?
This is just a starting point then you can fine tune them to suit your style and conditions.

What difference do you experience? less travel? firmer?

It sounds as if I have some tinkering to do.

For anyone with a 2013 CTD fork (such as me), I recommend getting the 'flow plate' upgraded.

I was quite annoyed, as the 3 modes all felt very similar. Sola Sport upgraded the flow plate to the 2014 spec, and now the 'Climb' mode feels great. I can't feel a huge difference between T & D either.

If you have a 2013 CTD fork, and aren't happy, consider the upgrade.

I've got a 2013 Fox Float 32 on my 29er and I find the difference between the three modes very significant.

I generally find however that depending on how I hang my bike (forks up or forks down) that the feeling is different for the first few k's. Not sure if its oil returning to where it should be...

Climb is pretty much locked out and, Trail I would describe as firm and progressive compared to my Reba RL and the Descend takes out the trail chatter in the first 50mm of travel and seems to firm up very progressively at a steeper rate that in Trail.

There is no change in travel in T and D. There is of course in C.

Defiantly firmer on the T. I only use the D occasionally as I tend to bottom out around the dam . The C is great and really stiff for climbing
