Ryland / St Ives Sniggle / Muppets

I'm concerned about St Ives Sniggle and Muppets being overridden in the wet. I was there on Saturday afternoon and it was a complete mud fest in certain spots and new lines were being created around the problem spots.

I know this trail gets ridden a lot by families as well as a link between Terry Hills and Cascades but isn't going to hold up to constant riding in these conditions.

Will this ever become a proper MTB trail as well as a horse trail and if so who will manage it? I would be willing to help out.

What do you mean by proper trail - as in graded/flattened widened and water bars?

I bloody hope not.

Would be a massive shame to touch such a great trail at all.

It will dry out and be fine. Don't forget everywhere takes a hammering with the amount of rain we had.

Jono.

No I didn't mean that at all. What I love about the trail is all the natural characteristics it offers, prefect single track really. I meant is there a group or council that will maintain it. I'm just worried that it will be ridden to death and lose some of those special characteristics.

There are a couple of places on the St Ives Sniggle that could do with some work. I'd be keen to do some labour after Convict if there's anyone with trail building skills who can provide some direction.

Probably wouldn't hurt to have some trail etiquette signs up.

Sadly it still seems to be thought fun/popular to ride trails when wet, heedless of the damage to trail and bike.
