Thanks to Cyclists helping in Manly Dam

Just a quick note to say thanks to the cyclist that that helped me yesterday in Manly Dam. I went over the handle bars in the 19th hole area in and ended up with a dislocated shoulder and some nasty skin burns. I was riding alone so the 2 guys that were riding behind me (I didn't catch their names) helped me out to the street (one of the guys even improvised an arm sling). Not only that they called an ambulance and waited there till they showed up.
Two other MTB riders took care of my bike and possessions.

It's great to see that the MTB community takes care of each other. I owe them a couple of beers.

Fortunately, i didn't brake anything, just some rest needed.

Cheers guys.

I was the dude behind you as you were walking out.

Have to say I was amazed you walked out without assistance. My eyes were watering from the memories of doing mine 5 years ago not far from that spot... about 50m further on in fact. I needed about 30mg of morphine before I could stand.

What part caught you out? From where you were sitting when I passed it looked like it was the gutter at the bottom of left side of the middle roll-down. That catches a lot of riders, myself included on more than one occasion. (linky). Hard to see until it's too lae, and easy to forget about if you get distracted (my excuse).

I wasn't involved. But here is to a speedy recovery.

How old is that video Hawkeeye? seems the bush has grown heaps along the stairs.

It was actually in the same place. I have rolled down those rocks hundreds of times but a loss of concentration it's all what it took. Instead of going right I went straight through the middle because I saw a rock lodged in the gutter and I thought (in that split second decision) that I could use it, but I think the rock moved to the left while my front tire went over, next millisecond I was flying (I'm glad I was wearing full finger gloves.
Well next time I will have to remember to take the right hand line.
I ended having 10 mg of Morphine in the ambulance as the movement of the vehicle was not helping.
Fortunately no broken bones so I should be able to ride the Dam soon

You'll be pleased to know there have been some rocks placed in the gutter that grabbed a hold of your front wheel that make the left line the one to use now.
