DH around newie this week? (guide)
NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Anyone fancy taking a newbie out for some DH sometime in the next week or so? I will probably have an early finish at work tomorrow (lunchtime-mid arvo) and it looks like I should have time free on Saturday and Sunday.
I've just bought a Reign and it's only seen a couple of rides in Lismore, keen to get it into Glenrock or any other downhill spots in the area.
Can travel
Cheers,
Dan.

Hey Dan
I ride a trek remedy which is pretty compareable to a reign.
I maybe riding in glenrock on the weekend, will try and let you know closer to the weekend. Glenrock is good but not a whole lot of legal downhill stuff that would challenge you on a reign.
The downhill track at ourimbah is probably the best place in the local (sort of) area for good quality down hill that is fun but challenging on a bike like yours (other may of course have different opinions).
Awaba is also good but the downhill track is a proper downhil track and it is very likely that your bike would be overwhelmed on it. The cross country trails are good and fun on a trail bike but again not really challenging for a reign.
All the best
Chris
Chris is on the right track. Ourimbah is a great track that can be ridden on any bike by most people. Awaba is a fully blown DH run but there are plenty of B lines around the crazy stuff. I am an experienced rider but new to downhill, and have just bought my first downhill bike and am looking for mere mortals to practice DH with. I would be keen to show you some downhill runs on the weekend and have someone to shuttle with (I have a 2 bike carrier for shuttles). Let me know if you are keen.

Thanks guys, would be stoked to get out this weekend! I should be able to ride Sunday, won't know about Saturday until Friday evening.. work schedules us daily so I only get short notice.
Glenrock and Ourimbah sound like a good start, I'm a newbie.. I used to ride a lot when I was a kid, raced BMX and XC but haven't been into it for 15 years or so, I've just gotten back into riding in the last couple of months. I can hit drops up to about 2 feet and most size tabletops no problem, pussying out on doubles and gaps at the moment but if I can find a track with good tabletops to session for practice then I'll graduate soon. Is the jump park at San Remo still being maintained?
Shuttling sounds like a great idea, this bike was built with DH in mind and it's a bit of a pig uphill
I sent you a message Dan.
