GNR 50Km of Fun (not training)
This is a placeholder for all the 'C' group riders who only want to do part (50Km) of Steve's training epic, starting from the same place at the same time.
With any luck the two rides will meet up after, or somewhere on GNR.
'B' group are assumed to want to do Steve's ride, but just not so fast - no separate post for them. They do get the option to bail at various points, but if you feel you can't ride 50Km at a good pace (in 4 hours elapsed) then perhaps this 'C' group is for you.
Steve's training epic is moved back to the 20th now, so this ride becomes 50Km of fun at GNR instead. Most likely up Devines, along to WCT, down to Clairs bridge for those that want then return via Shepherds Gully. The definition of 'fun' is that we all ride the same course, but if the 'roids have energy to burn they are to do so by coming back down hills and doubling up and attacking the technical stuff 'til they get it right!

It was an awesome fun ride and nice to meet everyone as well.
Hope to see you all again soon.
that would depend on other people turning up who would want to do a C group paced ride. And from that group, someone who knows where they are going. I'm pretty bad with directions.
I had an absolute blast and am looking forward to practising on more trails in the future.
I was absolutely buggered afterwards and was at severe risk of nodding off while driving back. I decided not to take chances and pulled over on the side and had a power nap.
Hope you're feeling better Caro!
Thanks everybody.
Cheers,
Loz
What a cracker ride, not sure about not being training as most took it pretty serious or at least there was a fair bit of pace on.
Enjoyed the ride a great deal apart from the blowout down shepherds gully with 100m to go (thanks to Nigel for the tube)..that last 10km by road is a real test of mental strength. Decided to set out quite slow to get into the groove which seemed to work well for the body. This is good info to take into the 100Km. Only 42Km today, sheesh, that should make the 100Km fun a heap of fun. Must remember not to ride the downhills as hard as today in the race, will consume a lot of energy.
Have recovered well and looking forward to next week.
Must mention the efforts of Gonz who was at the pointy end of the field all day on his trusty Giant Yukon (hardtail) awesome!!
Thanks all for a fun day.
Craig
for the great ride!
Loved it even if my fitness clearly isn't up to scratch for this great track hence all the bruises and band aids all over me at the moment . Felt so great to do some 'real riding' again but back to TH now
Thanks for taking the heavy bikes Bruce and Steve and STILL waiting for me (crazy!)
Have fun this Sunday surely it will be a killer pace and I look forward to hear all about it!
