Rider down Old Man's Valley

There was an older rider who went down heavily today on the last set of rollers at the end of the original blue loop at OMV - Turkey Royale?

It seems like he came through with a fair bit of speed, got some unexpected air and cased the landing into the face of one of the rollers and went OTB. Broken collarbone, suspected fractures around the shoulder blade at the back, and possible lower back injury.

Just wanted to say I hope your lower back is fine, your collarbone and shoulder aren't too bad and that you heal up fast.

Also, to the young guy who cut his riding short on the Trek test day and went up to the gate to wait for the ambos, much appreciated.

Do you know what bike he was riding Hawkeye?
I had a mate who is around 41 riding there this afternoon - he tends to leave nothing in the tank and would more than likely be flying down Turkey Royale.......
Heal up quick whoever it is.

I took a small spill today too, on a demo Trek EX 9.8 and unfortunately buckled the wheel :/ was very surprised as it wasn't a bad fall at all, have taken many heavy falls on my own bike and never damaged a wheel. Apologies again if any Trek reps read this Smiling other than that the bike was amazing

It was a 2006-ish Giant Anthem with Race Face cranks. The guy was in his late 50s.

I was back there today with jacojoco and I have to say I have no idea how this gent managed to be carrying enough speed to upend himself over the bars on this section of trail. Puzzled

The only thing I can think of is that he may have gotten it horribly wrong at the end of the green loop and crossed over through the scrub and down the embankment onto the end of the blue loop.

Anyway, whoever you are, and however you did it, I hope you're on the mend. Smiling

I think we finished up around 1pm. I was on a silver Cannondale 26er, trying (with limited success) to keep up with a mate on a Spesh 29er.

I think the 26er will go to my son after the NZ trip.

I might have just missed you my mate was standing next to his landcruiser just down from the trailhead sign as we pulled up .
