Has anyone ridden Gahnia without clipping out - technical skills, not speed
Just want to know how many of you have ridden Gahnia without clipping out, touching the ground, stopping & leaning on a tree..... you get the picture.
I've ridden twice & had 3 or 4 per ride. Combination of walking down a steep rock + loss of balance & clipping out.
I'd be surprised if more than 50% of riders could get through with a 'clean lap', regardless of time.
Not wanting to downgrade anyones skills....just curious.
Cheers

Only walked the first two shutes on the first time round to have a look before riding. I've never dabbed since.
I can see why a lot would I clip or dab though
I'm riding flat pedals so I guess thats a yes The uphills are harder than the downs though and it took me a couple of runs not to take my feet of the pedals.
1st time at dusk in flats no worries 2nd time in spds at speed no dramas.
i suggest you stop and look at the section ,maybe a rider will come through and ride it, then practice the section before moving to the next one, there are a few (hidden) lines
I haven't dabbed or fallen off....
... but then I'm in London at the moment. Can't wait to have a go.
I've done about 8 laps of Gahnia and managed one clean lap. Did a couple of laps yesterday and was all on track for a clean lap and the small rock step on a switchback near the end got me both times!! AArrggh!!
I'm pretty average skills though and according to strava my fastest time is 11:27
will have to ride this track, thanks for pointing out that it's a technical one
I've probably done 1 or 2 clean laps out of the 6 or so laps done so far. That last double roll downs is the biggest challenge for me, I find myself difficult to slow down and steer right and ended up going to the bush straight ahead.
I've only done 2 laps, first one was a reccy, so there was multiple clip-outs. 2nd one I rode everything bar one little pinch climb where I failed to gain enough momentum leading into it. Happened on the first lap too. All going well I'll get a clean lap in soon.
just realized this is Gahnia not Serrata, my comments were for Serrata.
Still yet to ride Gahnia... as I'm still waiting for a warranty replacement frame
1x stop: to look, push/roll bike over section then re-run
1x silly dab
no excuses for anything less than a clean run next time
I have ridden the whole trail clean at a nice cruisy pace. I also have plenty of battle scars from numerous encounters with the rocks and trees when trying to ramp the pace up. That's one of the things I really like about this track, as your confidence increases and you're prepared to hit it with a bit more speed, you are quickly reminded that you'd better have the skills to back it up!
2 laps down and 2 clean laps. But i don't think it will remain like that as it is quite technical ride both up and down with plenty of spots to get snagged on. Second lap around i didn't even know i had gone through the dreaded shute everyone is talking about.
I think if your not confident enough to ride it without doing a recon walk then your probably not good enough to ride it . Mtbing is all about adjusting as you go and just because you have seen a good line doesn't always mean that's the line you end up with.
All in all a great track and combined with Serrata there is no need to go near the trashed Dam.
Had a shocker this morning! About 5 or 6 dabs, just having one of those all too frequent days!
Back tomorrow morning for some revenge!
Rode it once and proved the point that I've become a crap roadie that can't ride technical stuff anymore
Given that I have gone from mainly riding Red Hill most afternoons to once in a while MTB adventures and lots of road hours.. crazy as I initially only went road to get fitter for MTB..
More back to Red Hill for me I guess.?
I rode the track for the first time on Monday and once yesterday both without dabbing or putting a foot down.
