and most trails are still officially closed.
NPWS are still trying to work out how they're going to notify peps when Serrata/Gahnia are open/closed. I guess we'll get more on that soon.
I'd give it at least another day (or maybe two), hopefully the wind will help to dry things out.
bike maintenance maybe?
Yeah spindog but I would assume, given how it's been constructed, it would be pretty immune to rain. It's either rock or plastic unless my memory has gone..which is very possible.
we're pretty lucky, most of the local trails have lots of rock and drain pretty well but both Serrata and Gahnia have many dirt sections that need a chance to dry out and firm up a bit. the good news is these trails bounce back quickly
if you really must get out on the trail go for a jog and clear some muck out of the drains on your way around. after 100-150mm of rain they'll be clogged with vegetation. this will help them drain better next time it rains and stop water pooling on the trail
Tomorrow should be fine though shouldnt it with all the sun/wind and dry conditions today as well? An update from someone who happens to be there today would be nice.

should have checked this myself... ;-P
Open...thanks!
As I can't see anything on the page about closures in Garigal NP. Am I just stupid or has the page been updated since 8am today?
There was an alert which has now gone so you dont see nothing.
The link has been updated since it was first posted.
It did have an "Alerts" message on the top section of that main text box which had the details of track closures at Bantry Bay. They adviced it would be closed this week but revisited before the weekend. They have obviously revisited the trails as the alert is now removed.
I don't think they have a "This track is open" message, just an alert when it is closed.
Mrs M.
Gahnia was in awesome condtion this morning and while there were a few big puddles on the fireroad, they were easily avoidable. Had a nice few laps all by myself and saw hardly any other riders. None on the trail itself even. Fun was had, heaps of.
