This was my 6th Careflight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic. The last 2 years I was within a minute for braking the hour mark. This year I not only beat it but smashed it.

Usually I would start at the back of my age category. from the back the group is bottle necked and the pace is slower than I would like so this year I figured I try and start closer to the front. Somehow I managed to jag the poll position for my group next to Philip Pidgeon and Martin Wisata.

Climbing is certainly my weakness and where I would get overtaken, but I was quick to get back onto the pedal at each crest.

By the time I reached the Heli-pad I knew I was on track to beating the Hour mark, just needed to find someone to team up with for the 12.5km sprint to the finish.

Hard on the pedal I think I hit that water bar at around 50km/h. I've never got so much air before! Thankfully I stayed true with a graceful landing.

Was not long after I caught up to Adam Parsons and Catherine Wood and teamed up with them. We pushed hard and caught another group of 4 at the Mid gate. The Group got bigger and we continued to push hard. Nearing the End of Bennetts Ridge I tried to breakaway and catch 2 riders I could see ahead of me. Got within 10m but could not close the gap and ran out of puff, My group caught back up to me.

I didn't make another attack after that and crossed the line just after Catherine Wood in 0:55:25

Big Kudos to Catherine Wood who placed 1st in the Womens 40-49 with a time of 0:52:24

Well done Tim! Your colour coordination most likely contributed to your result.

There is something highly psychological about that 1hr mark. Feels great when you break it. Near breaks you when you don't

Good riding tim
