.. from the RT FB page this morning:

SHIMANO MTB Grand Prix Series Finale
Venue changed to: Awaba MTB Park, Cooranbong NSW - 23 July 2016
We are offering a contingency plan as we were just informed by the Mt Annan team that the MTB trails are closed and our wet-weather option cannot be confirmed at this stage. So we decided to make an early call and are moving the series finale to Awaba MTB Park where awesome singletrails and an enthusiastic hosting club await our ‪#‎rockytrailracers‬. Thanks to the Hunter MTB Association for the continued support! With the current rain today, Wednesday, and plenty of time for the trails to dry up we expect them to be in prime condition on Saturday.
We do understand, of course, that this change of plans won't work out for everyone and we do apologise - we're offering to refund your entry, if you can't make it. But please, do send us an email to notify us no later than Friday, 22 July 2016, 12pm.
Online registration is still open and please help spread the word - maybe this venue change will suit some racers and they decide to come last-minute. Remember, for this final round you'll again receive all your race pics by OuterImage.com.au for free thanks to our major sponsor, Shimano Cycling Australia.
Thanks for your understanding.

Spent the last 2 weekends at Mt Annan getting to know the course, the lines ...

... for a recce lap at Awaba in the next 48 hrs.... http://nobmob.com/weather.

I haven't ridden here for 3 years and it's been 5 years since my last race there. Not a fan of the camelback climb. Still tossing up....

If you can survive that last climb up to the start line at Glenrock then Camelback will be be fine.

(Doing my best Arnie impression) You can do it!

I can walk anywhere, but that's not the point....

Needed new rear tyre and was tossing up between 2 but decided to put on the big chunky tractor tyre as it looks like being damp. If the race is dry I'm going to have grip but ...

Just packing the car for the race and noticed front wheel had a little brake drag. Shoved plastic tyre lever between front pads to open them up a bit and next thing brake lever is floppy and does nothing. No front brake = no race. Wine time...

... enjoy the wine. Just don't go hoping it now rains to make you feel better about missing the race.... Smiling

So I emailed my withdrawal last night then feeling sorry for myself broke dry July and got hammered. Martin from Rocky Trail replied saying I should come as the mechanic from Mondraker should get me going. Liz & I were just getting into bed and agreed to go in the morning but I thought it unlikely I'd race so our Plan B was lunch either at Newcastle or Terrigal. Then @hawkeye phoned to offer a bike. I told him I was half cut so couldn't come now and felt waking him at 5am wouldn't be appropriate. I did really appreciate the call thanks mate.

Paul from Mondraker quickly diagnosed the piston in the brake lever was jammed and within half hour it was fixed and the system bled. WOW! Sorry Liz, put that good food guide down cause you're doing 4hrs of drink bottle duty
