The Oaks At Night.

I believe the Oaks is a lot of fun to do at night and I imagine the run from the helipad down to the gate followed by that awesome single track would be a blast in the dark.

Has anyone done this ride at night I suspect mr groover has whats it like.

I would like to do this ride some time in the next month or so its a bit of a hike for the mid week outing so I am really thinking about a Friday or Saturday night or Wednesday if enough intrest but probably not.

The fire roads are great fun.

The single track, at night, currently has heaps of spider webs over them at night. They were so bad the last time I rode there, about 3 months ago, that we only rode 200m down the single trail and had to turn back.

Generally the night riding is a blast, as you can get up good speeds. A great sensation of speed at night.

now the winter chill has set in.

Would be keen for this but timing may be a problem

Do you get less spiders in the winter months?

Have you seen anywhere near as many even on our local trails at the moment?

Saturday night would be best, that way the usual Saturday progression will clear away anything built up during the week.

We did it, I think on Grand Final Night last year, Bruce lead the way all the way through the sniggle and I don't recall him complaining about them at all

Very flexible with the timing really any night over the next month would be ok as the nights are easy (for me) to get a pass out to go riding.

It's a good night ride and feels quite adventurous, of course best to keep the speed down compared to day time, as I have had one fright with a big roo but it was at low speed. I prefer to do it real early morning in the dark and time it so I get to the single track at first light. I'll do it on a weekend that I'm not racing.

sucker has to cop the spiders, everyone else has a ball.

Early morning sounds good too I have started my Oaks up and back training rides before in the dark but never thought about a blast all the way down in the early dark.

I will see what sort of intrest there is before posting a ride date and time.

....Stuart, I didn't see any webs on the night we were there.
Give it a go at night its an absolute blast!

Last time I did it, we timed rather nicely so it was just getting dark when we hit the single track. Awesome fun tho.

would prefer a saturday night but if its not on deadline should be able to make a friday night
i have only done the Oaks once and didn't really like it so I expect it would be much more fun at night!
