Manly Dam Open
Just got this mail from Nicole. I find it odd to be honest, and reckon the Dam will be a bog, but the official word is...
Could you guys please spread this email around your mtb email contacts advising that Manly Dam will be open for riding this weekend? I have a feeling that they wont get the email sent out before the weekend.
Thanks
Nicole

That is a surprise!
Has anybody walked (hopefully not ridden) around the track recently?
Rode down it yesterday on the way to work, sodden and huge puddles.
I hate to think what the dam circuit would be like.
Beast to give it more time to dry out.
W.
Checked this arvo. The signs are down, so I guess that means it's open. Surface seemed damp. Mot sure how muddy - didn't ride. Will ride tomorrow.
some of the signs are down. Others are up. Most of the track is fairly dry. However in a few areas the track begins to resemble red hill (on a dryish day).
Rode it yesterday for the first time in a month.
A lot of erosion - I think alot of people have obviously been riding it in the wet ( which sucks).
The end is hideous ( no surpise ) but on the whole not too wet now.
One thing though - there is a now a fence blocking the start to the singletrack above the golf course. What gives???
Eh, you mean there was a fence blocking the entrance on the left here:
Where are you meant to go from here if not into the sniggle? For a round of golf?
That's the spot exactly. Have to get off and lift the bike over it. I guessed it was to stop people riding when it's closed, but I thought it was open now ...
Didn't see any sniggle though, I don't think the little rodents like the cold too much.
was here yesterday and gate is still up
There are no "no bikes", "no riding" or "trail closed" signs as is usually the case. Indeed, what gives? We went through it anyway. But maybe the Warringah NPWS rangers can give us some info about this?
I'd imagine the gates at either end of the golf course sniggle (the place we discuss here and again at the junction with the parkway) are there to keep MX riders out. Not that I've ever seen evidence of them in there but reckon that's probably the reason.
Someone has been trimming the trail in here, they've done about halfway from the first junction to the rock drops. Perhaps it's some 'men working' thing but they've forgotten about the sign?
