Specialized Carve Pro Frame Warranty Rejected
Hiya,
I have a 6 years old Specialized Carve Pro, which I took into me local bike shop (the same bike shop I purchased it from) to report a crack in the Frame Chain Stay. The bike was assessed by Specialized and I have been informed that my warranty claim has been rejected.
I am a 6 foot 7 rider and I like to have fun out there on the trails and I am the first to admit that the bike had a few marks, abrasions and the usual bangs , which I kinda expect because I didn't but this bike to stay on the tarmac. I ride fire trail and single track, nothing gravity defying.. I am a bit too much of a woos to that stuff).
Anyways I am really not sure what to do next, I would appreciate any suggestions. I am planning to request a confirmation from my store about on what grounds the claim was rejected and take the case up to Specialized directly.
Thanks for any suggestions,
AT

If you read the terms of the warranty: https://media.specialized.com/support/0000009968... It looks like they have quite a few outs.
That's a pretty solid run out of a hardtail, I'd be more than happy if a bike I liked lasted six years.
Geometry has changed for the better in the six years since this thing was released, if you have decent parts have a look for a suitable frame.
You may be able to fight the decision, but I wouldn't have even tried on a 6yr old frame regardless of the policy.

If it aluminium or carbon?
If it's Al you can get it welded. Al work hardens so 6years is a decent run. If you get it welded make sure they know what they are doing and add gussets as the heat affected zone will be weaker too. Grip Sport specialises in frame repair.
If it is carbon but yourself a carbon repair kit and you can patch it up yourself. Easy Peasy
Obviously the first thing is to ask why the claim was denied. That's the first thing that would have come out of my mouth: Why?
I'd also ask If i could get that in writing, then carefully look over their warranty. If you feel you have a case go to consumer protection and see what they think.
Just ask them then and there. Why has the warranty claim been rejected. Only they can answer this not strangers on a forum.
