The SBS website has daily highlights, latest standings and information. http://tdf.sbs.com.au/tdf2008/ At 7:15am every day there is a short highlight program on SBS television. As well as a nightly 6pm half hour highlights program.

The really cool thing is on the official web site http://www.letour.fr/2008/TDF/LIVE/us/100/index....
This has a live tracking profile of the stage showing every hill and its classification, sprint and feed station for the stage. But you have to stay up and watch the live show to get the benefit.

Should be a good year for the Green and Gold Smiling

....I've just realised that there isn't a mountain bike category in this Tour de farce thing is there?

The event for Mountain Bikers is called the Yellow Jersey!

Australian Mountain Biker - Cadel Evans is going to win that Jersey...! Eye-wink

Three cheers for Cadel

Hooray, Hooray, Hooray Smiling

Cadel was a champion Mountain Biker. Just because he has gone to the dark side for a while doesn't mean we can't still support him.

And also is fun to see scummers off the pavement some times.

We support Cadel and get to see cool crashes like this one.
No wonder you all stay up all night waiting.

Cadel's not the only former champion Aussie Mountain biker.

Trent Lowe is also riding for Garmin Chipotle & depending on what work he has to do for his team we might get to see him in white or spots.

Adam Hansen is riding for Team Columbia. Adam has won the Crocodile Trophy twice

....is this an individuals sport or are the guys racing for their country?

Or are they paid to race for sponsored teams?

Pikey you don't get it because Road Riding is the antithesis of Mountain Bike Riding.

On road V's Off Road
Lyrca V's Baggy
Skinny Tires V's Fat Tires,
Shave Down V's Unshaven
Hood Ornaments V's Tree Huggers

Pikey you go out for a ride to breathe the fresh air, chat with mates and if somebody is slow you always wait for them to ensure they are OK. It is a social, caring community.

Now if you were a Road Rider you would be breathing fumes, jestering wildly with your elbow instead of talking and taking every opportunity to make sure you drop your companions, ride away from them and never see them again until the coffee shop. The essence of the sport is being rude, egotistical and anti-social. Now ask yourself why road riding and the French go hand in hand. Aucune offense signifiée au Français

Gazza I check out http://www.cyclingnews.com/ for my TdF fix

is a team race with team tactics.

It is also the biggest yearly sporting event on the planet and one of the toughest races out there. Surley anyone, including us MTBers can appreciate the skill, determination, mental tactics and fitness required to do well the the Tour

Carlgroover's picture

Is the best TV all year! I tape it every night and watch it the following night. If you don't understand the tactics then learn them is my best advice.

Watched Cadel Evans last night 29.5km in 36mins is damn fast in no matter what type of cycling you do!

let the sledging begin Eye-wink

Buck's picture

I watched it too. Averaging around 50km is crazy. And I assume they can't give it 100% as they had done 4 stages before this and have many to go!?

While it's roadie stuff it beats other TV at that time of night Smiling

Oh and in reply to Gazza's original question.......Do you have a VCR or DVD-recorder? Or even better a PC with a TV tuner?

Paul's picture

Fast, but not as fast as Sam Hill on the charge.

I've been following the Tour for many years - the drama and tactics are absording and as soon as it ends I just can't wait until July rolls around again, but I can't get enough of watching Sam Hill on the charge - that boy is the one.
